The Fatal Boiler Explosion at Darlston: Yesterday, Mr. E. Hooper (coroner) held an inquest at the Town Hall, Wednesbury, on the body of Israel Durfield (19) who was killed at the South Staffordshire Tramway Company’s Depot in Darlston, on Friday morning. The company was represented by Mr. A. Dickinson (general manager), Mr. H. Hatchett (secretary), Mr. Tibbits, (traffic superintendent), and Mrs. F. Eden Smith (from the office of Messrs. Smith, Pinsent and Co.), and Mrs. Elliot (Messrs Duigan and Elliot) attended on behalf of the Law Accident and Contingent Company

Stratford on Avon Rural Sanitary Authority: … A Novel Interlude: At this point a messenger came for the clerk, Mr. Beard announcing, on his return to the Boardroom, that an emissary from Messrs. Smith Pinsent and Co., wished to serve personally onto the chairman: – Mr. Jones: Not a writ? (laugher): Mr. Beard: No, a copy of the injunction (laughter). The emissary was ushered in, and addressing Mr. Jones said: You are the chairman? Mr. Jones: I believe I am: The visitor went on to say that his name was Smith, from Smith Pinsent and Co., and he wanted to serve a copy of the Henley injunction on the chairman and clerk: The Chairman: It was suggested that I should make my exit down the fire escape (much laughter) …

Stratford upon Avon Herald: Friday 12th October 1894

Action Against the Stratford on Avon Rural Sanitary Authority: Samuel Hollingsworth Agar and John Jams Agar, of Henley in Arden applied for an order under the River Pollution Act of 1876 restraining the Stratford on Avon Rural Sanitary Authority from polluting the river Alne by causing sewage to flow therein: Mr. Kettle, instructed by Messrs. Smith, Pinsent and Co., of Birmingham, represented the plaintiff, and Mr. J. C.
