Ashburton: At Ashburton Police Court on Friday, Sydney Doddridge, 14, of Coldeast, Ilsington, was charged on remand with an attempted offence under the Criminal Law Amendment Act, 1885, on Ada Pinsent, 11 years of age. Mr. J. Hutchings, of Newton Abbot, defended, and after a hearing of three hours, Doddridge was committed for trial at the ensuing assizes and admitted to bail, himself in £25 and two sureties of £30 each. Frederic Brimecombe, Sarah Ann Brimecombe, Ann Pinsent, P.C. Martin, and Dr. Ackerley gave evidence for the prosecution.
