Western Times: Friday 29th November 1895

Newton: On Tuesday evening a grand social entertainment was given in the Boy’s School, Highweek Road, being the first of the series of the winter months and was favoured with a large attendance. The following performers, all young people of the town, acquitted themselves admirably, and were highly applauded: Pianists: Miss Lamble, Miss De St. Legier, and Mr. L. Bearne (organist of Highweek); mandolinist: Miss Pedley and Miss B. Pinsent, Violinist: Mr. J. Mackenzie, vocalists: Misses Kerle, R. King, F. Martin and Pinsent, Rev., N. Germon, and Mr. F.S. Pascoe.
