S. Syms, C. Wilson, F. Beavans, R. M. Pinsent, G. Foot, Rumbulow, all of Totnes, and W. G. Rogers of Buckfastleigh, were competitors in unregistered swimming matches held in connection with the Totnes Regatta. He had written to the Regatta secretary, pointing out the necessity of registration in the interest of the swimmers and the promotion of the pastime. To this a reply was received, stating that the committee would consider the matter. On the proposition of Mr. Tucker, seconded by Mr. Hutchings, it was unanimously resolved that all the swimmers named be suspended from further competition as amateurs. …
