To-Day’s Football: Argyle v. Y.M.C.A.: This Wednesday League match was contested at Home Park in fine weather before a decent crowd. Argyle opened play and at once pressed. They were short-handed and Pattison went in goal, Dyer playing back by himself. After severe pressure on the visitor’s goal, the homers were pressed back. Then Pinsent came out and went in goal, but the referee was not brought acquainted with the change. Pinsent handling a penalty was awarded and Thomas at the second attempt scored easily. The visitors, having taken the lead, again and again, but Cleminson ran back and Scarr shot weakly. Argyle were all over their opponents, but their shots were weak, and a long kick from a free from Dyer resulted in the visiting goalkeeper being beaten … (continues) …
