Romsey: … … Major S. F. Chichester, of Embley Park, has, in recent years, been endeavouring to improve the breed of horses, particularly those for agricultural work. He has kept at stud two very fine pedigree Clydesdale stallions and this year a third has been added. Major Chichester has each year offered prizes for their progeny and at the sixth annual show last week, there were 30 entries. The classes were for tenant farmers, and the prizes were £3, £2, and £1. Mr. E. E. Hoddinott was first for foals, Mr. J. Pinsent being second, and Mr. A. Hill third. For foals on the Embley Estate, the winners were: 1, C. Jeffery, 2, W. Meade, and 3, F. Kemish. In the yearling class the prizes were taken by F. Kemish, J. Pinsent, and J. K. Hallett respectively, whilst the winners in the two-year-old’s’ were Wm. Cornish, E. Saint, and J. S. Hallett.
