The Erdington Institute: The Opening Night: … Mr. R. A. Pinsent, Chairman of the Council, opened the proceedings of the season by a few remarks. He drew attention to the programme for the winter, stating that upon analysis a great variety of subjects both instructive and entertaining would be found therein. After enumerating these, Mr. Pinsent alluded to the rule for members to show tickets at the door on Monday Evenings. Laxity in this respect upon the part of the Council and the members had led to irregularities which he (the speaker) felt sure had only to be hinted at to be avoided in future.
