Cricket: The Wesleyans defeated Bovey eleven 5 runs and although low scoring ruled the game, some exciting sport was provided. The match was contested at Bovey and the home team, batting first, compiled 48. The only innings of note was that of Pinsent, who knocked up 24. W. Towsley did well with the ball for the Weslevans, dismissing seven of the Bovey batsmen for 26 runs. That this was a fine effort on his part may be conjectured from the fact that most of Pinsent’s 24 runs were made off him, and against him the other batsmen did practically nil. Toms also did well, taking three wickets for seven runs.
