Merchandise Marks Act: A Chain Manufacturer Fined: At the Old Hill Police Court, yesterday before Messrs. W. Bassano, T. Hickman, J. H. Smith and H. Bassano: Gideon Billingham, chain manufacturer of Cradley Heath, was charged under the Merchandise Marks Act with having, on or about 4th March, 1891, at the parish of Rowley, unlawfully applied a false trade description, to wit, “Best best short line crane chain, made from best best … iron” to iron chains contrary to the statute; also with falsely applying a trade mark, or a mark so nearly resembling a trade mark, as to be calculated to deceive.
