Newton Abbot: At the Liberal Club, Newton Abbot, a very excellent concert was given for the benefit of the performers during the winter season. The contributors were Messrs. W. Hexter, W. Davis (violin solo), W. Mudge, F. E. Fuller (humorous readings), R. Hayman, W. Pearce, W. Lobb (cornet solo), J. L. Elms, W. H. Pinsent, W. H. Hawker (banjo and mandolin trio) and Mr. W. J. Hawken (mandolin solo). Selections were also given by an orchestra. The arrangements were satisfactorily carried out by the Social Evenings’ Committee, with Mr. W. Lobb as the energetic hon. secretary. …
