Madras Harbour Trust Board: The following are extracts from the Minutes of the proceedings of a Meeting of the Trustees of the Madras Harbour, held on Friday the 7th instant: … Resolved – that subject to the approval of Government under Section 24, Act II of 1886, three months’ privilege leave be granted to Mr. Pinsent from 28th July; that Mr. Hutchence, Traffic Manager, be appointed to act as Secretary during Mr. Pinsent’s absence; and that Mr. Lloyd continue to act as Traffic Manager.

The Harbour Executive: Mr. S. Hutchence of the Madras Harbour, who had been on a year’s furlough to Australia today resumed charge of his duties from Captain Lloyd, who reverts to his substantive appointment. Mr. Hutchence has, we understand, been recommended by the Harbour Trust Board to act as its Secretary during the absence on leave of Mr. C. Pinsent. In case he is appointed, Captain Lloyd will again act as Traffic Manager.

The Governor at the Harbour: On the 17th instant, His Excellency the Governor, accompanied by the Hon. Mr. J. H. Garstin and Captain Lord Douglas Compton, A.D.C., visited the Harbour. At 4.45 p.m. the party arrived at the Harbour Office, and were received by Mr. W. P. Austin, Chairman, Mr. A. Lee Pogson, Engineer, Mr. C. Pinsent, Secretary, and Messrs. … (continues) … The party entered three trolleys and were trollied over the southern groyne, at the sea end of which they entered the steam launch Lady Wenlock and steamed across the Harbour to the sea end of the northern Groyne. Here the party disembarked and then getting onto the northern groyne inspected the Allround Titan Crane work. After spending about twenty minutes here the party were trollied down the northern groyne to the Harbour Office, where his Excellency, after expressing himself much pleased with all that he had seen, left at about 5.45 p.m.
