Cricket Notes: White, Chatton & Co.’s XI was at home on Saturday at Plainmoor to Bovey end XI and although weakened by the absence of the brothers Bailey, they gave the visitors a beating by 58 runs. … The innings resulted in a total of 89 runs, the wickets being secured by Wyall 3 for 20 runs, Pinsent 3 for 25, Coysh 3 for 27 and Coniam 1 for 1. … With the other exception of Pinsent being neatly taken low down in the hands of Narracott off his own bowling the rest were clean bowled by the two bowlers throughout the innings. Harness horse at the Royal Cornwall Show on Wednesday and Thursday caused no little trouble to the judges, but in the big harness class the judges ultimately gave the hackney mare, shown by Mr. W. Swain Pinsent, of Newton Abbot, the first card, although it was closely followed by the well-known Cornish mare “Queenie.”
