Glass Competitions: To Glass W.R.I. — Mrs. Duncan presiding: — Mrs. Ingleby gave a talk on embroidering coloured blankets and exhibited some of her own work. Mrs. Shand, secretary, reported on the year’s work and Mrs. Cassie, treasurer, read the financial statement — both very satisfactory. A guessing competition, organised by Mrs. Anderson, was won by Miss Brander and Miss Whyte (equal). For the best six eggs the prizes went to: — 1, Mrs. Fraser; 2, Mrs. Barron. The eggs were sent to Huntly Hospital.  Office-bearers were appointed for the coming session: — Hon. president, Mrs. Ingleby; president, Mrs. Pinsent; vice-president, Mrs. Duncan; secretary, Mrs. Shand; treasurer, Mrs. Cassie; other members — Mrs. Anderson, Mrs. Burgess, Mrs. Duncan, Belnaboth, Miss Brander, Miss E. Glass Demonstration: To members of Glass W.R.I. — Mrs. Pinsent presiding — an instructive demonstration on wool rug-making was given by Mrs. Anderson. In a competition judged by Mrs. Pinsent and Mrs. Ingleby, the awards were: — Gooseberry jelly—1, Mrs. Morrison; 2, Mrs. Barron; strawberry jam — 1, Mrs. Shand; 2, Mrs. Paterson. Mrs. Cameron gave pianoforte selections, and Mrs. Ingleby delighted with three songs. Miss Brander, Mrs. Gordon, Mrs. Smith, and Miss Whyte were hostesses.

Glass at Edinglassie Lodge: Members of Glass W.R.I.; by Huntly, had an enjoyable afternoon at Edinglassie Lodge, the guests of Mrs. Pinsent, president. The programme included a delightful cinematograph display by Commander Pinsent. Mrs. Geddes, Invermarkie, thanked Commander and Mrs. Pinsent for the enjoyable entertainment they had given. A hearty vote of thanks was proposed by Mrs. Duncan to Mrs. Ingleby, Invermarkie Lodge, who had motored the visitors to and from the party. At the monthly meeting an “Open Night” — Mrs. Pinsent presiding — Commander Pinsent gave an enjoyable talk on the Navy, illustrated by lantern slides. There was a large audience, and a silver collection was taken on behalf of the W.R.I. funds. Mr. Shand, Schoolhouse, thanked Commander and Mrs. Pinsent, also Captain Philimore, the lanternist. In a competition for the best sixpenny supper for two- persons Lady Martin Smith and Captain Philimore made the awards: 1, Mrs. Cassie, 2, Miss J. Thomson. The prizes were the gift of Mrs. Pinsent.

Glass: “New from Old”: To Glass W.R.I. Mrs. Geddes, Invermarkie, introduced Mrs. Pinsent, Edinglassie Lodge, the new president, who then took the chair. Miss Henderson, Invermarkie, gave a demonstration on the making of strawberry jam, the strawberries being the gift of Mrs. Pinsent. A delightful music entertainment was also given to Mrs. Stainer and family, Cairnborrow Lodge.  In the competition “something new from something old” the prize-winners were: 1, Mrs. Duncan, Belnaboth, with boy’s suit; 2, Mrs. Gordon, Mill House, with girl’s coat. The prizes were also gifted by Mrs. Pinsent. Mrs. Burgess, Mrs. Dey and Miss Young were hostesses.

Glass: “Mysteries”: At Glass W.R.I. — Mrs. Duncan presiding — Mrs. Anderson reported the garden-party Craibstone, and Mrs. Shand intimated that Mrs. Pinsent had agreed to accept office as president for the year. A demonstration on home-made polishes was given by Miss Mackenzie, Dufftown, who showed various furniture creams, and scouring mixtures could be made at home cheaply and with little trouble. In a competition, “Railway Stations,” organised by Mrs. Cassie, the prizes were won by: — 1, Mrs. Fraser; 2, Miss Whyte. Sixpenny mystery parcels were sold for the funds of the Institute. Misses N. Duncan and J. Thomson provided musical selections. Mrs. Cassie, Mrs. Gauld and Misses L. and J. Thompson were hostesses.

Glass Appreciation: Following demonstration quilting Miss Henderson, organiser. Glass W.R.I. had reports from Mrs. Shand, secretary, and Mrs. Cassie, treasurer. Mrs. Shand expressed great regret that Mrs. Kessler, who had been president for a number of years, had now left the district, and spoke highly of the work she had done. Mrs. Geddes, hon. president, had previously, on behalf of the members, presented Mrs. Kessler with a beautiful salad bowl. It was decided to ask Mrs. Pinsent, Edinglassie Lodge, to act as president. The new committee were elected by ballot — Mrs. Duncan, vice-president; Mrs. Shand, secretary; Mrs. Cassie, treasurer; Mrs. Anderson, Mrs. Barron, Miss Brander, Mrs. Burgess, Mrs. Duncan, Mrs. Robson, and Miss Whyte. Mrs. Shand, who has proved a most efficient secretary for the past five years, was presented with a beautiful Aladdin lamp – The presentation was made by Mrs. Geddes, and Mrs. Shand acknowledged. In a competition for the six best eggs, the prizes went to —1, Mrs. Duncan, Belnaboth; 2, Miss Duff, Netherton. Solos were rendered by Miss Watson, and Mrs. Cameron provided piano selections. Mrs. Duncan, Mrs. Anderson, Mrs. Morrison, and Mrs. Paterson were hostesses.
