Glass’s Committee: A demonstration on baking a ginger cake was given to Glass W.R.I. by Mrs Anderson. The competition — for best six eggs — resulted: —1, Mrs. Mackie, 2, Miss W. Gauld, Mrs. Robertson. There were 10 1/2 dozen eggs sent to Huntly Cottage Hospital. A guessing competition on common advertisements organised by Mrs. Fraser, resulted: —1, Miss Cameron, 2, Mrs. McBain. Guessing the number of peas in the bottle was won by Mrs. Anderson and Mrs. Watt. New committee is: —Hon. president, Mrs. Ingleby; president, Mrs. Pinsent; vice-president, Mrs. Duncan; secretary, Mrs. Anderson; treasurer, Miss Gauld; Mrs. Gardyne, Mrs. Mackie, Mrs. Thomson, Mrs. Smith, Miss West, Mrs. Watson, and Mrs. Robertson. Misses Thomson and Proctor were tellers. Votes of thanks to the hostesses and Mrs. Shand were given by Mrs. Anderson and to the demonstrators by Mrs. Thomson.

Glass Health Talk: Presiding at Glass W.R.I. Mrs. Pinsent of Edinglassie, president, gave an interesting talk on health and how to protect oneself against gas poisoning in air raids. It was appreciated by the members. Recipes for an invalid dish were also judged by Mrs. Pinsent, who made the following awards: — 1, Mrs. Watt, Blairmore Cottages; 2, Mrs. Shand, Demeath. Various games were enjoyed, prizes being given to Mrs. Pinsent. Tea hostesses were: — Mrs. Thomson, Miss Brander, Mrs. Gardyne and Miss Rolison. Votes of thanks were given by Mrs. Duncan to Mrs. Pinsent for her interesting talk, also to the Masters Pinsent, who helped with the various games, and to the hostesses.

Glass Garden Party: Mrs. Pinsent, president, entertained the members of Glass W.R.I.to a garden party at Edinglassie Lodge, where an enjoyable afternoon was spent. Various competitions were entered into, prizes being given to the winners. After an excellent tea, Captain Pinsent entertained the members to a cinematograph display which was greatly enjoyed. Mrs. Duncan proposed a hearty vote of thanks to Captain and Mrs. Pinsent for their great kindness. The monthly meeting of the W.R.I. took the form of a birthday party — Mrs. Pinsent presiding. The proceedings opened with a selection of Scots music on the piano by Miss J. Thomson, Mrs. Dalgarno, Dufftown, delighted with three songs, accompanied by Miss Macgregor, Dufftown, and Miss C. Aitken also played two pieces on the piano with acceptance. A musical parcel caused great amusement. Mrs. Pinsent, cut the cake, which was made and given to the Institute by Mrs. Anderson, Beldorney, each member receiving a piece. Mrs. Duncan, Mrs. Robertson, Miss J. Thomson, and Miss Whyte were hostesses. Votes of thanks were proposed by Mrs. Anderson and Mrs. Duncan. An eight-some reel ended the evening’s programme.

Glass’s Programme: How to clean and truss a fowl was demonstrated to Glass W.R.I. by Mrs. Macpherson, Cairney. A guessing competition was carried out by Mrs. MacBain, Beldorney, the winner being Miss Brander and Miss Grant. Sixpenny mystery parcels were sold for the good of the funds. Glass’s Jelly Awards: Glass W.R.I. Mrs. Couper of Logie gave interesting talk on the different countries she had visited, and also showed dolls dressed in the national dress of the various countries. In a competition for green gooseberry jelly, Mrs. Mackie, Chapelhill, got first prize, and Mrs. Watt, Blairmore Cottages, second prize. Votes of thanks were given by Mrs. Duncan to the hostesses — Miss Gauld, Haugh; Mrs. Gauld, Auldyne; Miss Gauld, Parkhaugh; and Miss Fraser, Beldorney. A special vote of thanks was also given to Mrs. Pinsent, Edinglassie Lodge, who provided the prizes for the competition.
