Rugby Football: Redruth v. Newton: This match is to take place at Redruth today, and is exciting and of immense interest. The first match resulted in a win for Newton by one goal only, and having defeated all the leading clubs of the West, a grand game is expected. Redruth will be represented by — Back, Easthorne; three-quarters, Phillips, Thomas, Viant, and Paull; halves, Hoden and Barnett; forwards. Woolf (captain), Pearse, Wasley, Pearse, Nancarrow, Michell, Winn and Pollard. Kick off 3.30. What promises to be one of the best matches for the season is fixed to take place on the Teign Marshes on Good Friday, when Newport A. will meet Newton. All who had the pleasure of witnessing Newport’s play last season are anticipating an interesting game and I have no doubt their hopes will be fulfilled … The season which is now fast drawing to a conclusion has been most successful from Newton’s point of view. The excellent form exhibited by the Plymouth team on Saturday proves that there is ample scope for a second team at the large football loving centre … (description of game) … Pinsent was somewhat shaky at the start, probably in consequence of lack of practice. Lambert should not have scored the try in the first half. Pinsent partly stopped him but could not prevent the try. Afterwards Pinsent exhibited his best form, tackling surely, fielding cleanly and kicking strongly. That collar in the second half when Lambert tried to jump was splendid …
