Walthamstow and Leyton Guardian: Friday 25th January 1895

Change Ringing at St. Mary’s: On Saturday eight members of the Ancient Society of College Youths rung a true peal of Grandaire triples, 5,040 changes (Holt’s Ten Parts). The time occupied was two hours and fifty-two minutes. The peal was novel from the fact that the Christian name of the whole eight ringers was William. There were Messrs. Coakham, 1st, Manning 2nd, Smith 3rd, Dallimore 4th, Birkin 5th, Pinsent, 6th, Freeman 7th and Pye 8th. The peal was rung in honour of Mr. W. Pinsent’s birthday.

Change Ringing at St. Mary’s: On New Year’s Eve eight members of the Walthamstow branch of the Essex Association of Change Ringers succeeded in ringing with the bells half muffled a true peal of “Grandaire Triples,” 5040 changes in 3 hours and 5 minutes. The band was constituted as under: … After midnight service to usher in the New Year an open quarter peal of 1,260 changes was rung by the St. Mary’s Band in 45 minutes, the band consisting of W. Coakham, 1; F. Nunn, 2, R. T. Maynard, 3, F. Rumens, 4 (conductor), J. H. Wilkins, 5, W. Pinsent, 6, W. B. Manning, 7, W. Crockford, 8 (tenor ringer of St. Mary’s for upwards of forty years).
