Blundells v. North Devon: Cricket: Concluded on Wednesday, the scholars winning a sensational victory. Blundell’s overnight declared for 326 for five wickets. W. M. Milton’s was the highest score, and his 125 included a 6 and ten 4’s: R.G. Vaughan’s 58 not out, included two 6’s. The visitors put together 256. Symes’s 99 included a 6 and eight 4’s. North Devon followed on and with two absentees only succeeded in compiling 83. Blundell’s thus won by an innings and eight runs: Scores: North Devon: 1st Innings: (includes) R. M. Pinsent, b. Totnes Weekly Times: Saturday 13th August 1898

At Totnes, on Thursday, the town team defeated Mr. J. B. Maye’s XI in a cricket match by an innings and 11 runs. The winners made 134, out of which A. Godfrey compiled 35, H. Tucker 21, S. Anthony 17, J. Lowcock 13, R. R. Ellis 10, and A. Drennan (not out) 11. In their innings the visitors were all out for 42, the highest score by any player being 6. In the second innings they made 81, W. Gibson contributing 20, A. H. Jacob 16, R. Pinsent 14 and A Huxham 11.
