Westminster Gazette: Wednesday 12th April 1916

The Academy of Dramatic Art: The annual public performance of the students of the Academy of Dramatic Art took place yesterday afternoon at the New Theatre and it was notably for the fact that the places were, with one exception feminine; so, the gentlemen who are usually learning to be actors are obviously doing their duties elsewhere. … (discussion of the event) … and among the other players during the afternoon may be mentioned the Tilda of Miss Maisie Horne, the Portia of Miss Amy Rean, and two special dancers, Miss Sybil Fage, and Miss Phyllis Pinsent. It was a very successful afternoon and proved that, though useful, man is by no means essential on these occasions.

Westminster Gazette: Thursday 10th June 1915

Steinway Hall: The number of composers whose music is strong enough to justify a one-man concert is strictly limited and Mr. Isidore de Lara would doubtless be one of the first to agree that he is emphatically not of the number. … … Hence there is no need to consider into critical a spirit the music hear at the Steinway Hall yesterday afternoon when the programme was devoted exclusively to Mr. de Lara’s compositions – the concert being given, of course, in connection with the War Emergency Campaign, which has owed so much to the composer’s vigorous initiative. … …  In addition to Mr. de Lara himself, Miss Ethel Hook, Miss Nettle Edwards, the Duchesse Orentsia di Mignano, M. Maurice Dambios, Mr. Bertam Binyon, and various other ladies and gentlemen contributed to the programme yesterday, while there was also a dance by Miss Phyllis Pinsent.
