Barnes: Oakley Harriers: On Saturday last the twelfth Competition for the One Mile Challenge Cup of this dub was successfully decided from headquarters, “The Boiloan Arms, Barnes. Result: J. B. Pinsent, 115 yards start, first; H. F. King, 70, second; H. M. K. Velton, scratch, third. Also ran: C. J. Gabriel, 40 yards start; J. U. Bassett, 69; T. H. Lapworth, 80; A. Scudamore, 80; W. Stevens, 80; G. F. Keys, 105; J. W. 135; B. Larner, 145; H. Gilbay, 185; F. J. Gunton, 195. The limit man led till half distance, shortly after which point Pinsent went in front, and retaining the lead till the end won a good race by 10 yards, 5 between second and third. Time,5 mins. 10 secs: Judges, Messrs C. J. A. Game, and J. Shallard; timekeeper, Mr. H. J. Smithson; handicapper, Mr. R. K. Keys.

Bassett, H. Veltom. W. Stevens, T. Sanders, J. Pinsent, and J. I. Alger. The next race takes place on Saturday, November 10th, and members are reminded that entries close on the 3rd. The distance is two miles and three-quarters, and there will be runs over the course on Saturday, the 3rd, and Tuesday November 6. Oakley Harriers’ Five Miles Members Handicap: The last cross-country race of the season was decided Saturday from headquarters, Boileau Arms. Barnes. Details G. A. Fowles, 1 min. 55 sec. start (nett time, 30 min. 17 sec.), first; C. Harrod, 3 min. 13 sec. (nett time, 31 min. 40 sec.), second; C. J. Gabriel, 2 min. 15 sec. (nett time, 30 min. 46 sec.), third. Also ran: —A. Fowles. J. E. George. T. H. Lapworth, C. J. Winter, J. Pinsent, H. J. Smithson, J. J. M. Bassett, G. F. Keys (who secured the novice prize). W. Stevens, F. G. Smithson, and W. H. Cherry. After the usual “tub,” an excellent repast was provided by host Blade, to which ample justice was done. The cloth being cleared, chairman T. W. Bennett gave the order for harmony, and then one of the best smoking concerts ever held under the banner of the Oakley kennel was celebrated.
