Musical Service: There was a goodly congregation present at St. John’s Church on Sunday evening when a musical service of a high order of merit took place in aid of the Church Expenses Fund and the offertory realized the highly satisfactory sum of £1 18s. Miss Smith presided at the organ and the choir gave a most capable and pleasing rendering of the anthem “Send forth Thy Light;” the vocalists were Mrs. J. B. Wilkerson and the Rev. John Pinsent and both acquitted themselves well. To practically all present both singers were making their debut, but their singing made all hope for an opportunity of hearing them again soon. In “God so Loved the Word” and “Sunset and Dawn” Mrs. Wilkerson was heard to excellent effect and the Rev. J. Pinsent sang attractively “Glory to Thee My God” and “I know that my Redeemer Liveth” in good voice. … …
