Kings Heath Flower Show: Marquees Damaged by the Gale. The thirty-third annual show of Moseley, King’s Heath, and Balsall Heath Horticultural Society was held today at the Priory, King’s Heath, by permission of Major J. Howard Cartland, J.P. During the night the gale did great damage to the marquee reserved for the cottager’s classes … The entries numbered over 700, an increase on last year of 150. There were no honorary exhibits: The judges spoke in particularly high terms of Class 1, a group of plants for which L. 10 in prizes were offered. … The first prize in the groups went to an old exhibitor, Mr. J. A. Kenrick of Borrow Court, Edgbaston, who won numerous other awards with his fine specimen plants. Mr. Hume C. Pinsent, Lordswood, Harborne, was second in the groups, with Mr. J. Archibald Kenrick, of Harborne House third. A special was awarded to Mr. J. Cope, Balsall Heath, Mr. J. Archibald Kenrick and Mr. Pinsent were also successful in several other of the open classes.
