Ratby: Women’s Adult School: On Sunday afternoon, in connection with the 14th anniversary of the above school, Mr. H. Snowden, A.R.C.M, A.L.A.M., (Leicester’s blind pianist) paid a visit, and with friends gave an excellent programme, which was highly appreciated by a very large audience.  Mrs. A. Preston, Kirby Muxloe, presided, and the programme was contributed by Miss E. Morling, Miss D. Pinsent, Miss D. Brookes, Miss B. Brookes, Mrs. A. Preston, and Mr. Snowden. The evening meeting was presided over by Ald. J. Scampton, when Mr. A. Pichard, C.C. gave an address upon the words “Look Up.” Mr. Snowden gave pianoforte solos and Miss Brookes rendered a solo and Miss Pinsent recited. The amount raised during the day was upwards of four guineas which will be devoted between the school funds and the Soldiers’ Comforts’ Fund. …

This is a record so far as this year is concerned, and if contributions come in on the same generous scale between now and Christmas, we hope to achieve our objective which is to raise £4,000. The bookings for the matinee at the Palace on December 9th started very auspiciously yesterday … … (discussion of events) … … On the following day a concert is to be given at the Shaftesbury Hall, Holy Bones.
