St. John’s Hill Caterer Sued: A Loan of £15: Before his Honour Judge Haydon at Wandsworth County Court yesterday, Robert Charles Enticknap, caterer, 64A St. John’s Hill, Clapham Junction, was sued by Mrs. Lena Catford, 33 Wimbledon Park-road, who claimed £15, money lent. Charles Pinsent, assistant solicitor in a firm of solicitors, said that in May this year his firm was instructed to act for both parties in connection with the sale and purchase of a lease of premises, 64A St. John’s Hill. The consideration was £125. It was arranged that the arrangements should be completed for the purchase. Witness asked the defendant if he was satisfied, and he said he was absolutely satisfied. Cost of a Refrigerator: Among the fixtures was a refrigerator in good condition which had cost over £120. On July 8 both parties attended at the witness’s office, and the witness supervised the completion of the purchase. At that meeting the defendant said he was £15 short of the balance required. Witness was instructed to prepare a receipt. It was arranged between the parties that the plaintiff should lend the defendant the sum of £15. Defendant told the judge that the refrigerator was not worth anything to him because of its being electrically A.C. The district was a D.C. one. The business had not turned out as he expected it would. He did not dispute the fact that he borrowed £15, and he was willing to pay it back at the rate of 10s. a month. That was all he could pay after meeting other Judgments, was given for the amount claimed, with costs.
