Adult School West End: No. 6 group of schools, which includes Lutterworth, arranged a week-end Lecture School, the lecturer being Mr. A. Pinsent, B.Sc., of Leicester, who on Saturday night in the lower Assembly, before a fair audience, opened the course on the rise of the great Empire of England, continuing it on Sunday. The course was divided into four lectures, the subject being treated in a very concise and lucid style. The lecturer dealt with the principal events in the history of the Empire from the 13th century up to the present. Mr. W. K. Bedingfield, the president of the Lutterworth School, occupied the chair at each meeting, and at the close on Sunday night a good discussion resulted. The lecturer was warmly thanked for his visit.

Hockey: Leicester Y.M.C.A. 2nd XI v. Quorn: At Alyestone, the Y.M.C.A. 2nd entertained Quorn. The home team were heavily handicapped through three of their men turning up late, Quorn in the meantime running two goals through. Quorn continued to press through Y.M.C.A. played a plucky game. Pinsent was very unfortunate in not getting through. At the interval the score stood at 4 – 0 against Y.M.C.A. Upon resuming, the game was more even. Margolira made a very fine run through, and put the ball in the net, but unfortunately another of the home side forwards was pulled up for offside and the goal was disallowed. However, Y.M.C.A. repeated the effort, and this time with more success. This put new vigour into the Y.M.C.A., and in about two minutes Pinsent found the net. Quorn again got on the move, and their centre-forward returned the compliment by putting two through in quick succession. Shortly before time, Merrell scored another goal for the home team.

Hockey: Y.M.C.A. 2nd v. South Nottingham: At Aylestone, on Saturday, the Y.M. had a most enjoyable game, their first in a fortnight. The Y.M. were strengthened forward by the addition of G. Praiser, who played his first game for them, and showed exceptionally good form. Moreover, he is to be congratulated upon scoring the first goal after about 15 minutes’ play. The Y.M. were the strongest team, and shortly before half-time Pinsent scored the second point. Upon resuming the play was more even, several corners being fought by both sides. South Nottingham, however, were a little over-anxious, several free’s being given against them for offside. Still, it was a very pleasant game brought to a close without further score:
