Birmingham Assize: Breach of Contract: An action was brought by V. and R. Blakemore, of Charlotte Street, Birmingham to recover £177 damages for breach of contract from Marshall, Sons, and Company (Limited) of the Britannia Ironworks, Gainsborough. Mr. Hugo Young (instructed by Smith, Pinsent and Co.) was for the plaintiffs, and Mr. Dugdale, Q.C. and Mr. C. Gould, Q.C., (instructed by Messrs. Broomhead, Wightman and Moore) for the defendants (dispute regarding a wool press)

Madras Harbour Trust Board: The following are extracts from the Minutes of the proceedings of a Meeting of the Trustees of the Madras Harbour, held on Friday the 7th instant: … Resolved – that subject to the approval of Government under Section 24, Act II of 1886, three months’ privilege leave be granted to Mr. Pinsent from 28th July; that Mr. Hutchence, Traffic Manager, be appointed to act as Secretary during Mr. Pinsent’s absence; and that Mr. Lloyd continue to act as Traffic Manager.
