Glass has a Visitor: Miss Ross, organiser, visited Glass W.R.I. and gave an interesting demonstration on sack rug-making and wonder weaving. The business meeting followed, and the committee elected were: — Hon. president, Mrs. Ingleby of lnvermarkie; president, Mrs. Pinsent of Edinglassie; vice-president, Mrs. Duncan, Mains Edinglassie; secretary, Mrs. Shand, Schoolhouse: treasurer, Mrs. Thomson, Edinglassie Kennels; and committee — Mrs. Fraser, Mrs. Leith, Mrs. McBain, Mrs. Mackie, Mrs. Burgess. Mrs. Watt, and Mrs. Smith. It was decided that the July meeting would be a trip to Aberdeen.

Glass Prizes: To Glass W.R.I. – Mrs. Pinsent presiding — Miss Davidson, Artlich, Huntly, gave a demonstration on various kinds of stitchery, work and showed a few beautiful specimens of her work. In a competition for the best article made from a flour bag, Miss Davidson made the awards: 1, Mrs. Mackie; 2, Mrs. Anderson. Prizes for the most entries for competitions during the year were won by Mrs. Shand, Mrs. Duncan, Edinglassie, and Mrs. McBain, Miss McGregor, Dufftown, and Miss Nan Duncan gave selections on the piano and violin. Mrs. Duncan, Mrs. Smith, Miss W. Gauld and Miss M. Duncan were hostesses.

Aberdeen Journal: Monday 24th September 1934

Glass Entertainment: Members of Glass W.R.I. were hospitably entertained at Edinglassie Lodge by Commander and Mrs. Pinsent. Various games and competitions were taken part in and prizes for these were won by Mrs. McBain, Mrs. Mackie, Miss Leslie and Miss Shand. A whistling competition created much amusement, Mrs. Ingleby, Invermarkie Lodge, provided conveyance to take members to and from Edinglassie Lodge. After a delightful tea, Commander Pinsent gave cinema entertainment which everyone enjoyed. Votes of thanks to Commander and Mrs. Pinsent and family were proposed by Mrs. Duncan, vice-president, after which the company joined lustily singing “For they are jolly good fellows.”

Glass Programme: The programme at Glass W.R.I. was sustained by Mrs. Pinsent, president, Miss Bateson and Masters A. and J. Pinsent, and consisted of two sketches by Mrs. Pinsent and Miss Bateson; a monologue by Miss Bateson, and songs by Miss Bateson and Masters A. and J. Pinsent. Those were greatly enjoyed. In a competition — guessing advertisements — Mrs. Thomson and Miss W. Gauld gained the prizes, gifted by Mrs. Pinsent. Hostesses were: — Mrs. and Miss Duncan, Belnaboth; Mrs. Robertson and Mrs. Watt. Votes of thanks were proposed by Mrs. Ingleby and Mrs. Duncan.

Aberdeen Journal: Friday 27th October 1933

Glass Single Ladies: Mrs. Pinsent, president, presided at Glass W.R.1., when the programme was sustained the single ladies, who chose as their opening item a community song, “I’m owre young to mairry yet.” A helpful demonstration on how to make and change an invalid bed was given by Nurse R. Duncan, Edinglassie. Other items included an amusing recitation by Miss J. Horne, a duet by Miss M. Duncan and Miss J. Thomson, and selections Miss R. Duncan and Miss M. Duncan — all greatly enjoyed. In a guessing competition the winners were: — 1, Mrs. Burgess; 2, Mrs. Fraser and Mrs. McBain (equal).  A competition for the best six months’ programme, judged by the Auchindoir Institute, resulted: — 1, Mrs. Duncan, Edinglassie; 2, Miss Brander. The lucky winners in “Relationship” competition given by the Auchindoir Institute, were Mrs. Duncan, Edinglassie, and Mrs. Duncan, Belnaboth. A happy evening closed by singing “Here’s to the Maiden.” Mrs. Pinsent proposed the votes of thanks, and Mrs. Duncan thanked Mrs. Pinsent for presiding. The hostesses were: — Misses Whyte, Brander, R. and M. Duncan, Edinglassie; J. Duncan, Belnaboth; Gauld, Cormack, J. and E. Home, and L. and J. Thomson.

Glass Cinema Treat: Members of Glass W.R.I. were entertained at Edinglassie Lodge by Mrs. Pinsent. A cinema, operated by Commander Pinsent, was greatly enjoyed. Prizes for the various competitions were given by Mrs. Pinsent, who, during her first year of office as president, has helped the Institute considerably. A party from Auchindoir Institute provided the programme at the last monthly meeting. Lady Robertson Nicoll read an interesting story by Isabel Cameron on “Consider the Postage Stamp, and Stick It’,” and Miss Pollard gave a short talk on the uses of salt. Other members of the party contributed solos, duets, piano, and violin selections. An amusing feature was the “Three Bowness Beauties,” just come from London, and wearing the latest style of dress. In a guessing competition, given by the visiting Institute, the prizes were won by: — 1, Miss Whyte. 2, Mrs. Cassie. The committee were hostesses.

Glass Musical Treat: Mrs. Pinsent presided at Glass W.R.I,, when Mrs. Stainer and family entertained the members to a musical programme. There was a large turn-out of members and friends, who showed their great appreciation of the various items piano, violin, ‘cello and vocal. Institute is fortunate in having such a talented family living in their midst who are always willing to give their services to the entertainment of members. The monthly competition was “Best sweet for 6d.” and the prize-winners were: 1, Mrs. Cassie; 2, Miss Thomson. Mrs. Pinsent presented the prizes. Mrs. Cassie, Mrs. Guild, Mrs. Thomson, and Miss Thomson were hostesses.
