Public House Compensation: Leicester Allegations of Untidiness: Allegations that a Leicester public house was kept in a dirty and untidy condition were made by Alderman I. Parsons at the supplementary meeting of the Compensation Authority at Leicester Town Hall to-day. The public house in question, The British Lion, Russell-square. was recently referred for compensation. To-day Thomas William Ansley claimed compensation and was awarded £4OO. Alderman Parsons, for the Brewery Company, asserted that there had been complaints about the conduct of the house, and they had tried several times to get the tenant out. It was stated that from 1917 to 1932 the licensee was George Pincent. When he died the house was carried on by his widow who died a few months later. She left a will making William Ansley her heir, and the claim was on his behalf.
