Late Mr. H. R. V. Ball: An Appreciation: By the death of Mr. Reginald Ball, Plymouth has suffered a great loss. He was not only one of its most able violinists, but also a man of sterling quality ever ready to dive a helping hand in any deserving cause. … The Funeral took place at St. Gabriel’s Church, Plymouth yesterday. Gloucestershire Echo: Tuesday 17th April 1923

Whist Drive at Winchcombe: The committee of St. Peter’s Lads’ Club organized a whist drive, in aid of their cricket section, and this took place at the Women’s Institute on Monday night. The affair was a great success; there being 25 occupied tables. The prize winners were as follows …

The M.C.’s for whist were the Rev. J. Pinsent and Mr. S. Fisher. Prizes were given by Dr. W. S. Soden, Rev. J. Pinsent, Mr. A. V. W. Smith, Miss Lane, Mr. G. W. Tovey and Mr. R. Agg, and Mr. and Mrs. Gilbey. The committee was Messrs. D. H. Agg, P. Major, S. Fisher, W. J. Turner, L. Holmes, with the Rev. J. Pinsent as principal organizer.

Winchcombe: St. Peter’s Cricket Club: There were about thirty members present at the annual meeting on Wednesday night last week, the Rev. J. Pinsent (Treasurer) being in the chair. An adverse balance of £1 12s 4d on the last season’s working was reported. Mr. S. Fisher was re-elected Hon. Secretary, Mr. P. Major was also re-elected Captain, while Mr. L. Homes was appointed Vice-Captain. The Rev. J. Pinsent resigned his position as Treasurer, saying he was leaving the town. Regrets were expressed. Mr. Donald Agg was elected to fill the position. The Committee were made up as follows: Captain, Vice-Captain, Secretary, Treasurer and Mr. W. J. Turner. The Rev. J. Pinsent kindly offered to make up half the adverse balance. At a committee meeting which followed, it was decided to hold a whist drive in the near future so as to commence this year with a clean sheet.

Easter Vestries: … Winchcombe: … The curate, the Rev. J. Pinsent, was leaving on April 21st. the speaker [the Rev. F. M. Wickham) said he would not deny that he had made some alterations in the church services, the only one of moment being a choral Communion instead of Matins once a month and on great festivals. He wished to come to a fair and open agreement on the matter, to live and let live, if possible, without any compromise of principle on questions which it was ultimately his duty and responsibility to decide. Rev. J. Pinsent was heartily thanked for his work as curate, and in reply he said he was sorry that owing to his health he had to leave Winchcombe, and he wished to thank everybody for the kindness he had received. The reverend gentleman intimated that he was prepared to give a contribution towards the expense of the extra Sunday duty, whilst he was laid up. …

Cheltenham Chronicle: Saturday 31st March 1923

Winchcombe St. Peter’s Cricket Club: There were about thirty members present at the annual meeting of the above club held at the White Hart Hotel, Winchcombe, on Wednesday night, the Rev. J. Pinsent (treasurer) being in the chair.  That gentleman read the balance sheet, which showed an adverse balance of – £1 12s 4d on the last season’s working, but he explained that this was not so bad considering it was their first season. The next matter on the agenda was the election of a secretary and Mr. S. Fisher was elected unopposed. Mr. P. Major was also re-elected captain, while Mr. L. Holmes was appointed vice-captain. The Rev. J. Pinsent resigned his position as treasurer, saying he was leaving the town. Regrets were expressed at this intimation. Mr. Donald Agg was elected to fill the position. The committee was made up as follows: — Captain, vice-captain, secretary, treasurer, and Sir. W. J. Turner. The Rev. J. Pinsent kindly offered to make up half the adverse balance. At a committee meeting which followed it was decided to hold a whist drive in the near future so as to commence this year with a clean sheet.
