Bovey Tracey: … The funeral of Mrs. G. Pinsent who died at Bovey last week, at the advanced age of 82, took place on Saturday. The service was taken by the Rev. F. Taverdar, both in the chapel and at the graveside. The Husband (Mr. G. Pinsent), Mrs. Gaylor and Mrs. Charman (daughters), Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Heath, and many other friends also attended.

WHIST DRIVE AND DANCE: A very enjoyable and successful Whist Drive and Dance was held in the Town on Tuesday evening (Boxing Day), in aid of the funds of the Ruthin Castle Class for providing comforts for soldiers. The arrangements were carried out by a committee consisting of the Mayor (Alderman R. H. Williams), chairman; the Mayoress; Mrs. Tate, president of the Comforts for Soldiers’ Class; Mrs. Pinsent, secretary; Mrs. T. H. Roberts, Mrs. Jones, Mrs. Tegid Owen, Mrs. Bonner Thomas … (continues) … Two “sealed number” prizes, a writing case and a leather purse, were awarded to Miss Mignon Griffith and Miss N. H. Thomas. The prizes were given by Mrs. Pinsent, Woodlands, were presented to the winners by the Mayoress.  … During the proceedings Alderman T. H. Roberts thanked the ladies of the Comforts for Soldiers’ Class for providing such a splendid entertainment … He wished particularly to thank Mrs. Tate for providing all the refreshments at this entertainment and Mrs. Pinsent for giving the prizes.
