The Amalgamation of Birmingham and Wolverhampton Banks: A special meeting of shareholders of the Birmingham Dudley, and District Bank (Limited) was held on Tuesday at the Grand Hotel, Birmingham, to approve of a conditional agreement for the amalgamation with the company of the business of the Wolverhampton and Staffordshire Banking Company. There was a large attendance. Mr. Walter Williams presided; and the other directors present were Messrs. J. N. Brown, A. F. Godson, M.P., J. W. Williams, J. Walker, R. T. Smith, and T. Birmingham County Court: Yesterday before His Honour Judge Chalmers: Application for a New Trial: An application was made for a new trial of the action brought by James Reynolds and Co., of Gloucester, flour miller, against Walter Bladin, of King Edward’s Road, Birmingham, baker, to recover £31 17s 6d, the price of thirty sacks of flour. The action was tried on the 18th inst. before his Honour and a jury. Defendant alleged that the money had been paid to plaintiff’s traveller and, though this was denied by the traveller, the jury found for the defendant. Mr. Parfitt (instructed by Messrs. Smith, Pinsent, and Co.) appeared for the plaintiffs and Mr. O’Connor for the defendants.

Bovey Tracey: The annual Lady-day vestry meeting was held on Thursday in the Vestry Hall. The Vicar (the Rev. Canon Courtenay) presided ant there were present, Mr. W. R. Hole, C.C., General Anderson, Messrs. E. Sercombe, A. Furslund, G. and L. Mountford, J. Beer, T. Wolfden, E. Endacott, W. Heath, W. Sparke, J. L. Joll, W. and G. Snell, W. Tucker, W. Bovey, J. Parnell, H. Pinsent, J. Pethebridge, W. Mann, S. Davy, J. Pascoe, and others … The following were appointed way-wardens this year: Messrs. Joll, Pethebridge, Bovey and Pinsent. … The burial ground question was next brought forward, Mr. Hole, stating that burial in the churchyard and part of the Baptist yard would be suspended by order from the 21st September next. He should propose that a committee of nine should be appointed to make an inquiry with a view to obtaining a suitable place for a cemetery. The following were appointed, and to make their report to this adjourned parish meeting: The vicar (the Rev. Canon Courtenay), Revs. J. Pearse and King, Messrs. Hole, T. Wills, Eastbury, W.
