Sussex Agricultural Express: Friday 19th November 1920

Accident at Uckfield: Another accident occurred at the juncture of Church-street and High-street, Uckficld on Wednesday morning between 8 and 9 o’clock, this being the second in two days. Major John R. Royal Engineers, Maresfield Park Camp, was driving a motor car out of Church-street into the High-street, and the direction of the railway station. Several small boys were standing at the entrance to Mr. Flint’s yard, when one of them, George Wright, 8 1/2, of 8, Baker-street, ran across the road with his hoop. He was caught by the wing of the car and knocked down and received a slight concussion and bruises on the forehead and leg. Major Pinsent conveyed the injured lad to the Cottage Hospital, where it was found his injuries were not of a serious nature.
