Alleged Thefts of Metal: Merchant and Haulier Committed for Trial, Remarkable Evidence of a Weigh-Clerk. For nearly six hours the Magistrates at the Borough Police Court on Monday, Mr. Edwin Adams and Alderman C. Summerton, were occupied in hearing the evidence for the preoccupation in a charge of metal stealing. The accused were John Frederick Wood (43), iron merchant of Birmingham Road, West Bromwich, and Sidney Peace (48), haulier, Crocketts Road, Handsworth. They were charged with stealing 6 tons 14 cwt.
