The Blizzard in Berks: The snowstorm of last week was the severest we have had in Berkshire since the memorable storm of Tuesday January 18, 1881, and like that of 1881, was accompanied by a bitter east wind, which drove the snow drifts in some place four feet deep. … (continues)… At Theale two bricklayers, named Dance and Burgess, started from the Bull Inn just after 10 o’clock to walk to Tilehurst. Soon afterwards Burgess missed his companion, and stopped and shouted, but getting no reply he went on, and next morning a market-gardener found Dance in Pinsent’s Lane, in the middle of the road on his back and dead. …
