Leicester Cripples’ “Joy Day,” Visit to Beaumanor Park. The Leicester Guild of the Crippled have staunch friends in Mrs. Perry Herrick and the Leicestershire Automobile Club, who annually act as hostess and … agents for one day at Beaumanor Park … (description of event) … Mr. A. I. Groves (president of the guild) said the Automobile Club, who had now arranged that and similar outings for a number of times, almost reaching the teens, put the scheme into effect before any other club in the Country. Mr. P. L. Baker, jun., who acted as hon. secretary for the outing, responded, and added that all the arrangements at Beaumanor have been carried out by Mr. Pincent. Councillor P. L. Baker described the guild as the pet charity of the Automobile Club, although some people said the club first made the cripples and then entertained them (laughter) …
