The Electric Light and Power Co. and the Leamington Corporation … A common ground of treaty seems to be cut away by the attitude of certain members of the Town Council. It is distinctly unpleasant to hear from Messrs. Smith, Pensent and co. that they “wrote to the Town Clerk weeks ago, inviting a friendly conference” and of the difficulty if not impossibility of negotiation “with a Corporation, some of whose members in order to cheapen the undertakings they are advised to acquire, do not hesitate to repudiate as “illegal” their own agreement on the faith of which our clients’ outlay was made.” … (continues) …
