Portswood Conservative Association: The monthly meeting of this association was he at the Belmont Inn, Portswood, last night, when Mr. Councillor Furber, J. P. occupied the chair, and there as a good attendance; among those present being Councillors A. L. McCalmont, W. H. Davis and P. Warren; Captain Gibbs. Messrs. H. J. Pinsent, F. H. Candy J. E. Davis, J W. Barnes etc … (discussion on membership etc.) … Mr. H. J. Pinsent proposed a vote of thanks to Mr. Councillor Furber for presiding, which was carried with acclamation; and the Chairman, in responding, said he felt highly gratified to find that the associate was increasing so rapidly in numbers (cheers): The meeting, which was most unanimous and enthusiastic through, then separated.
