Portswood Workingmen’s Conservative Association: A meeting of the members of this association was held on Tuesday Evening at Mr. C. J. Barnes’ Junction Inn, Portswood, when there was a very large attendance, the room being quite filled. Councillor Furber, the president, occupied the chair, and among those present were Captain Gibbs, Messrs. A. L. McCalmont, H. J. Pinsent, C. Goldstone, W. J. Miller, G. T. Pope etc … Important discussions on the subject of the rating, the sanitary condition of Portswood, and other interesting topics took place, and committees were appointed in relation to each.
