NEW FOREST CONSERVATIVE ASSOCIATION: SHERFIELD ENGLISH: A meeting of this association was held (by the kind permission of Lady Ashburton) in the Reading Room, Sherfield, on the 4th instant. In consequence of Wilton fair falling on this day the meeting was not largely attended. Mr. Harford Olden presided, and in addition to members of the local committee Mr. R. Bell (secretary to the New Forest Conservative Association) also attended. In opening the business of the meeting, the Chairman apologised for the unavoidable absence of Mr. J. Clyma, Mr. John Pinsent, and Mr. Jas. Stephens, of Warren Farm, and congratulated the meeting on the presence of a deputation from the parent association in Romsey, viz., Mr. George Wheeler, Mr. E. M. Meddings, and Mr. Richard Moore. ELECTION OF COMMITTEE: On the motion of the Chairman the following gentlemen were duly elected as the committee for the ensuing year, vis.: The Rev. J. M. Macdonald, Messrs. Thomas Clark, J. Clyma, Andrew Hacker, Henry Loader, F. J. Mowlam, George Olden, jun., Henry Osgood, Jno. Pinsent, and James Stephens. Mr. Andrew Hacker proposed that the best thanks of the meeting be conveyed to Lady Ashburton for the use of the Reading Room, and a similar compliment to the Chairman for presiding, which was duly acknowledged by Mr. Harford Olden, and the proceedings terminated.
