Leslie Walter Pinson “junior” was the elder of son of Leslie Walter Pinson “senior” by his wife Myra, (née Crozier). He was born in Sydney in 1905 and grew up there with a younger brother, John William Pinson, who was born in 1912. I am not aware of any other siblings.
Leslie Walter took the “N.M.R.A. Mechanics’ Examination” at the age of 21-years in 1927 and the answers he gave were clear enough that they were thought to be worth publishing for the edification of motor-car owners and the public in general. The topics covered included: “The Crank Pin, … Carburettor Adjustment, … the cause of Blue Smoke in Exhaust, … reasons for Engine Overheating and … what to do about a choked muffler “ etc. each was a thoughtfully presented discussion of the issue on hand (Evening News: Thursday 14th April 1927). Clearly, he was a good communicator. Leslie married Iris Mary Garrick in Chatswood in 1932 and they proceeded to have at least one son – although exactly when, I am not sure.
Leslie “junior” served in the “Royal Australian Air Force” during the Second World War (Australia, World War II, Military Service Records, 1939 – 1945: Ancestry.com). However I do not know where, or in what capacity he served. His skills would have been much in demand.
The Electoral Rolls tell us that Leslie Walter “junior” was living at “87 Hawthorne Avenue” with his wife, Iris Mary and at least one son in 1958. The latter had come of-age and was by then a “draftsman.” Leslie and Iris moved to “Edgar Street,” in Marsfield, sometime before 1977, which was when Iris died. Leslie died a decade later in Port Macquarie New South Wales. He was buried in the “Innes Garden Memorial Park”.
Leslie and Iris’s son grew up to become a teacher in Kingsford West. I believe he married and for all I know he has children.
