Concert at Winchcombe: To assist the funds of the St. Peter’s Football Club, the promoters of the newly founded St. Peter’s Institute arranged a concert at the Women’s Institute on Monday evening, there being a fairly large company present. During the interval the vicar of (the Rev. F. M. Wickham) explained the objects of the institute and paid a tribute to the organising skill of the Rev. J. Pinsent (curate), who in so short a time had ensured such a successful evening. The principal performer of the evening, Mrs. Leonard Hall (of London), whose soprano voice had a good compass, and who rendered several numbers in pleasing style. The Rev. Pinsent gave several Toreador songs and sang two duets with Mrs. Hall. Others who appeared were Captain W. Deakin, M.C.. Mrs. Wallace, Mr. Grey (female impersonator), and Mr. Curnock. The Winchcombe choirboys also sang several songs, which were greatly appreciated. Mr. W. E. Haslam, F.R.C.0. was at the piano.
