The Late Rev. W. F. Eliot: Memorial Service at Winchcombe: At St. Peter’s Parish Church. Winchcombe, on Wednesday afternoon, there was a full congregation present, at a memorial service for the Rev. W. F. Elliot (Vicar of Upton St. Leonards, and formerly vicar Winchcombe and rector of Sudeley). Whose death we reported in our columns on Tuesday. The Rev. J. Pinsent (curate of Winchcombe) officiated in the absence of the Rev. F. M. Wickham (away on holidays), and he was assisted by the Rev. Collins Ashwin (rector of Dumbleton and Rural Dean of the Winchcombe Deanery), who read the burial service. The hymns “The Saints of God.” “Praise My Soul” and “The Strive is Over” were fervently sung by the choir and congregation. Prayers the Rev. Pinsent and the Blessing concluded the service, after which the congregation stood while the organist (Mr. W. E. Haslam F.R.C.O.) played the Dead March. During the afternoon and evening a muffled peal was rung.
