Gloucester Citizen: Friday 25th January 1884

The supposed extensive wheat robbery by Gloucester Men: At the Birmingham Public Office on Thursday before Mr. Kynnersley (stipendiary), James Haker (32) and John Allen (58) boatmen, both of Gloucester were charged on remand with stealing 10 cwt. of wheat from the premises of the New Union Mill Company, Grosvenor Street, West, on the 14th Inst. Henry Jelf (67), 2 Bridge Street, a porter and Edward Wainwright (71) back of Navigation Inn, Bridge Street, labourer were charged with receiving the corn, well knowing it to have been stolen.
