Exeter Flying Post: Tuesday 19th October 1897

Newton: District Council: At a meeting of the Urban District Council on Monday it was decided to make a general district-rate of 1s 2d in the £ for the ensuing half-year. The Highweek Parish Council wrote stating that Messrs W. S. Pinsent, A. B. Segar, J. Wright, and C. J. Vicary, had been appointed as a committee to confer with the Urban Council with respect to the proposed provision of a bathing place. After a discussion, Messrs. Parker, Stevens, Segar, and Prowse were appointed to meet the deputations.
