Newton Abbot Agricultural Society: The thirtieth annual meeting of this society took place yesterday, when its promoters had the great satisfaction of finding the society in a state of prosperity unprecedented in its annals. In the great majority of classes, the competition was keener than in any previous year, and the improved style of ploughing showed the beneficial influence of the society in this department of farm labour …  (prizes) … Class 4: A prize of £2 for the best crop of common turnips, Mr. C (sic) Pinsent Ware, Kingsteignton. … The dinner was held in the Assembly Room of the Globe Hotel.
