Conservatism at Bovey Tracey: Formation of an Association: Last night a meeting of the Conservatives of Teignbridge Division resident in the neighbourhood of Bovey Tracey was held at the Union Hotel, Bovey Tracey, to consider the desirableness of forming a Conservative Association for the polling district, of which that place is the centre. Mr. W. R. Hole, J.P., presided, and among those present were General Anderson, The Rev. W. W. Secretan, and Messrs. Ca. Bentinck, J. P. H. Chadwick, E. Mogridge (Secretary Central Conservative Association) …  (others including): H. When wheat went below 6s a bushel the land could not be property cultivated for want of sufficient means to employ ample labour upon it (hear, hear!) …
