Advertising the County: A public meeting, convened by Mr. Lewis Bearne, chairman Newton Abbot Urban District Council, and Mr. W. S. Pinsent chairman Highweek Parish Council, was held on Thursday afternoon at the Town Hall, Newton, to hear an account of the work, aims and objects, of the United Devon Association, promoted for the purpose of advertising the County. The Right Hon. Lord Clifford presided, and was supported by Mr. W. J. Watts, Jun. J.P., Mr. Lewis Bearne, J.P., Mr. A. B. Segar, Mr. W. S. Pinsent, Rev. S. G. Harris, Mr. F. Watts, Rev. Father Atkins, Dr. Harvey, Mr. D. Vile … etc. … … (discussion of project then) … …  Mr. L. Bearne proposed a vote of thanks to Lord Clifford for attending that meeting and his able conduct I the chair. (cheers). Mr. W. S. Pinsent seconded the resolution, which was carried unanimously …
