District and Parish Council Elections in Newton Union District: On Tuesday polls for the return of District and Parish Councillors took place in the Newton Union District with the following results: … … Highweek: Thirty candidates for 14 seats: Presiding officers, Mr.  T. S. M. Underhay and Mr. J. Duckworth: poll clerks, Messrs. R. H. Cawse and J. E. Webber: Election fourth on personal lines.

The poll was declared at 1.30 on Wednesday morning by the Deputy Returning Officer: Mr. T. S. M. Underlay, as follows: Elected, John Vicary (142), W. S. Pinsent (141), Rev. S. G. Harris (133), C. G. Vicary (127), J. Olver (120), T. Weatherdon (112), C. Adams (plumber) (105), R. Pascoe (102), W. J. Jarvis (101), A. Segar (99), E. Kitson (96), W. L. Shilston (95), C. Adams (farmer) (93) and J. Rogers (84):
