Lighting of the Parish: A resolution having been passed at the last meeting to have a lamp fixed at Whitehill Cottages, the Clerk stated that Mr. W. Haydon, superintendent of the lighting of the parish, considered the lamp taken from the lower part of Highweek could be utilised. He estimated the cost of fixing at £4 10s., if with 1/2-inch steam pipe, 10s less. Mr. C. G. Vicary: What does the member for Highweek say to that? Mr. Segar mentioned that the sub-committee appointed to consider the lighting question had prepared no written report, nor had they made the round of the parish, but the members had consulted Mr. Haydon and examined the lamps in different parts of the district. It was impossible to get a clear estimate of the probable cost of repairing the lamps, but several required seeing to, though there was necessity for the Council to pledge itself to have the whole of the lamps repaired. It was decided to empower the sub-committee to spend a sum not exceeding £10 to carry out such repairs as they might think necessary. Issue of Precept: On the motion of Mr. Olver, seconded by Mr. Pinsent, it was decided to issue a precept for £100 to cover the cost of lighting:
