Mr. Hume C. Pincent, of Amersham Hall School, who is a member of the Baptist church at Caversham, has received the scholarship of £60 per annum at St. John’s College, Cambridge, awarded on the result of the University Local Examination to the senior candidate who has displayed the greatest proficiency in mathematics. Mr. Pincent besides being placed in the first division of honours in the general list, also obtained distinction in religious knowledge and English. At the same examination seven seniors and eleven juniors passed from Amersham Hall School, nine of whom were placed in honour classes, sharing amongst them ten special certificates of honour.
