Charge Against a Telephone Inspector: At the Victoria Courts this morning Arthur Cecil Barker, 2, Church Road, Erdington, an inspector in the employ of the National Telephone Company, was charged with stealing 3s 11d, the money of employers: Mr. Smith (Smith, Pinsent, and Co.) appeared for the prosecution and the defendant who pleaded guilty was represented by Mr. Jesson. Mr. Smith said the defendant was an inspector in the service of the telephone company, but he had no authority to collect money from the automatic instruments. On June 1st he was found collecting the money from the telephone at the Pitman Hotel, Corporation Street and when the manageress asked him to produce his authority, he was unable to do so. …
